Compounding
Most mass produced medications have limited strengths and forms (pills, creams, etc.) available which do not meet the needs of all patients. Compounding customized medications can overcome these obstacles and allow the physician to adjust dosages or change a formulation for a particular patient.
Working with the prescribing doctor, compounding medication into a different dosage form might be the solution when a patient is unable to take or uncomfortable taking the manufactured form of the medication.
Starting with commercially available products, our pharmacists work with your physician to:
- Increase or decrease doses or strengths
- Change dosage form (instead of a pill, try a topical cream, etc.)
- Add ingredients to make combination drugs
- Remove ingredients from combination drugs
- Add better-tasting flavor
- Eliminate preservatives
- Reduce irritants
- Add emollients
- Add a slow-release factor
We also work with veterinarians to compound special flavors and treat forms for pet medications.
Tasty Meds Flavoring System We are happy to offer the Tasty Meds Flavoring System to create a more flavor-friendly option for both children and adults.

Medication Packaging
Stephens Pharmacy provides special packaging for those who require their medications to be organized by dose according to the time of day and the day of the week. This is especially helpful for seniors or those taking multiple medications and is useful to patients and caregivers alike. Studies have shown that patients with packaged dose medications are more likely to take their prescribed medications as directed.
